Joep, pronouced "yope"
"Joep" is one of the favorite's here with both the residents and staff at Crossroads. He is a big, beautiful, 10 year old, bay, Dutch Warmblood given to the Equestrian Program by Ms. Shelley Dayton of Columbus, North Carolina. Crossroads has been his home since September of 1996.
"Joep" was imported from Holland several years prior to coming to Crossroads in hopes of training to compete in upper level dressage competitions. Due to an injury he is no longer able to meet the difficult demands of this type rigorous competition. Ms. Dayton wanted to find "Joep" a good home where his personality would be appreciated and found Crossroads to be just that kind of place!
"Joep" has been a wonderful edition to the Program helping the residents
here to gain self esteem, confidence and an ability to interact with a 1,400
pound animal! "Joep" has his very own fenced pasture with a run-in
to get out of inclement weather that is just next door to his pal "Soxie",
another Crossroads therapy horse. He is very talented and loves to
play. His favorite trick is to bow! We love you "Joep"!!!!!!!
